Simultaneous interpretation for events with a speaker and a sizeable audience, in 208 languages. Two interpreters work in rotation, and we specify the booth and receiver setup alongside the booking.
When simultaneous is required
Events with more than twenty participants, anything run in presentation format, and any programme whose running time cannot stretch. Product launches, technical seminars, academic conferences, shareholder meetings and institutional forums. Consecutive interpretation takes close to twice as long for the same content, so for a programme scheduled to the minute, simultaneous is effectively the only option.
Equipment and staffing
An interpreting booth and receivers for the audience are required, and two interpreters work in rotation. Simultaneous interpretation demands sustained concentration that one person cannot hold for long. If a day is expected to run beyond eight hours, we agree additional staffing in advance to protect quality. Equipment rental is specified together with you, based on what the venue allows.
Send the presentation material in advance
Provide slides, scripts and a glossary three days before the event so the interpreters can absorb the content. In simultaneous mode there is no chance to ask again or verify, so the presence of advance material changes the outcome more than in any other setting. With multiple speakers, send the session order and each speaker’s material together.
